Fall Decor Finds at Walmart: Affordable Ways to Cozy Up Your Space

Fall Decor Finds at Walmart: Affordable Ways to Cozy Up Your Space

If you’re like me, the first hint of cooler temps and football season has you itching to swap out your summer stuff for something a little cozier. Fall is here, and Walmart’s got some surprisingly good (and affordable) decor to help you bring that autumn vibe home—no matter if you’re decorating a house, apartment, or even your RV for your next Texas road trip.

Why Walmart for Fall Decor?

Let’s be real: Walmart is everywhere in Texas. Whether you’re in a big city or a small town, you’re probably not too far from one. The best part? They’ve stepped up their seasonal decor game in recent years, without breaking the bank.

What’s Hot This Fall

1. Faux Pumpkins in Every Size
Forget the mess of real pumpkins. Walmart’s got a huge selection of faux pumpkins—ceramic, velvet, and even metal. They look great on porches, tables, or mantels, and you don’t have to worry about them rotting before Halloween.
2. Cozy Throws and Pillows
Nothing says fall like a soft, chunky throw blanket. Walmart has tons of affordable options in all the right colors—think burnt orange, mustard yellow, and deep green. Pair them with some plaid or pumpkin-themed pillows and your living room instantly feels ready for sweater weather.
3. Wreaths and Door Signs
First impressions matter. Walmart’s got wreaths with autumn leaves, mini pumpkins, and even sunflowers. If you’re more into signs, there are plenty of “Hello Fall” and “Welcome” options to greet your guests (or just yourself after a long day).
4. Tabletop Decor
From candle holders shaped like acorns to leaf-shaped serving trays, there’s a lot to choose from for your kitchen or dining table. These little touches can make even a simple dinner feel festive.
5. Candles and Scents
Apple pie, pumpkin spice, cinnamon—if you want your whole place smelling like fall, Walmart’s candle aisle is the spot. The Mainstays brand is super affordable and actually smells pretty good.

Tips for Decorating on a Budget

  • Mix and Match: Pair Walmart finds with things you already have, like mason jars or old baskets.
  • Go Neutral: Choose items that can work from September through Thanksgiving, so you don’t have to redecorate every month.
  • DIY a Little: Grab a plain wreath and add your own ribbon or mini pumpkins for a custom touch.

Final Thoughts

You don’t have to spend a fortune to bring a little fall magic into your home. Next time you’re at Walmart (maybe grabbing snacks for your next Texas adventure), swing by the seasonal aisle and see what catches your eye. A few simple swaps can make your space feel warm, welcoming, and totally ready for autumn.

Perry’s Steakhouse: A Texas Classic Worth Savoring

Perry’s Steakhouse: A Texas Classic Worth Savoring

If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Texas, Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille is a name that keeps popping up—and for good reason. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Perry’s is more than just a steakhouse; it’s a Texas institution that’s mastered the art of hospitality, flavor, and atmosphere.

The Perry’s Experience

Walking into Perry’s, you’re greeted by a vibe that’s both upscale and welcoming. The lighting is just right, the décor leans classic but never stuffy, and the staff is always ready with a smile. It’s the kind of place where you can celebrate a special occasion or just treat yourself after a long week.
What really sets Perry’s apart, though, is their attention to detail. From the moment you sit down, you know you’re in for something special. The servers are knowledgeable, happy to share recommendations, and they never rush you—perfect for a relaxed Texas evening.

Steaks, Sides, and Sips

Of course, the steak selection is top-notch. From filet mignon to ribeye, everything is cooked to your liking and packed with flavor. Don’t sleep on the sides, either—the Truffle Mac & Cheese and Loaded Mashed Potatoes are crowd-pleasers. For those who like to pair their meal with a drink, Perry’s wine list is extensive, and the bartenders know their way around a craft cocktail. Beware they are an upscale restaurant so a little pricy.

Atmosphere for Every Occasion

One thing I love about Perry’s is its versatility. Date night? Check. Business dinner? Absolutely. Family celebration? They’ll make it memorable. The private dining rooms are perfect for groups, and the main dining area always has a buzz without being too loud.

Final Thoughts

Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille isn’t just another steakhouse—it’s a Texas staple. Whether you’re celebrating something big or just want to treat yourself to a great meal, Perry’s delivers every time. Just remember to save room for dessert.
So next time you’re planning a night out in Texas, put Perry’s on your list. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

After 6 Years, I'm Finally Monetized on YouTube-And it's All God, Not Me

After 6 Years, I’m Finally Monetized on YouTube—And It’s All God, Not Me
Today marks a milestone I’ve been chasing for six long years: my YouTube channel, Comments with Corey, is officially monetized. I’m sitting here in a mix of disbelief, gratitude, and awe—not just at the journey, but at how God made it possible in ways I never could have orchestrated myself.
If you’ve followed my channel, you know it’s been a wild ride. I started filming travel content around Texas with nothing more than a camera and a lot of hope. There were times when the views trickled in slowly, when the hours watched seemed stuck, and when I wondered if all the effort was really worth it. There were weekends spent on the road, late nights editing, and plenty of moments where quitting would have been easier than pressing “upload” one more time.
But through every high and low, I kept feeling this nudge to keep going—a sense that this channel wasn’t just about me, or even about travel. It was about sharing what makes Texas special, connecting with people, and letting God use my journey for something bigger than I could see.
I can’t take credit for finally reaching this goal. Sure, I worked hard and stayed consistent, but there were so many moments when things worked out in ways I never planned. The right video taking off, a kind comment at just the right time, the energy to keep filming when I was exhausted—all of it was God’s hand, not luck or hustle.
Getting monetized isn’t just about making money. It’s a sign that persistence, faith, and a willingness to trust God’s timing can pay off—even when the wait feels endless. I hope my story encourages anyone who’s in the middle of their own long journey. If you’re grinding away and not seeing results, don’t give up. Keep showing up, keep trusting, and let God write the story.
Thank you to everyone who’s watched, commented, and supported me along the way. And most of all, thank you, Lord, for making this possible—because I know for sure, it wasn’t me.
Here’s to the next chapter. Let’s see where God takes us from here.

Discovering the Wild Side of Texas: Nature Like Nowhere Else

Discovering the Wild Side of Texas: Nature Like Nowhere Else

When you think of Texas, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s the big cities, the BBQ, or Friday night football. But if you’re looking for wild landscapes, jaw-dropping views, and outdoor adventures, Texas is packed with natural gems that probably aren’t on your radar… yet.
Here’s a quick guide to some of the best nature spots in the Lone Star State—no passport required, just a sense of adventure.

1. Hill Country: Bluebonnets, Waterfalls, and Rolling Views

If you’ve never driven through the Texas Hill Country in the spring, you’re missing out. Miles of bluebonnets line the highways, and wildflowers turn the fields into a living painting. Take a hike at Enchanted Rock for panoramic views, or cool off in the natural swimming holes at Hamilton Pool or Jacob’s Well. Don’t forget your camera—these spots are pure Instagram gold.

2. Big Bend National Park: The Ultimate Texas Wilderness

Big Bend isn’t just big—it’s massive. Rugged mountains, desert canyons, and the Rio Grande wind through this remote corner of West Texas. Hike the Lost Mine Trail for killer views, or float down the river for a different perspective. Pro tip: Stay after dark. Big Bend is an International Dark Sky Park, and the stars out here are next-level.

3. Gulf Coast: Beaches, Birds, and Sunsets

Texas has beaches? You bet. The Gulf Coast stretches for hundreds of miles, with sandy spots like South Padre Island, Mustang Island, and Galveston. It’s not just about swimming—birdwatchers flock here for the migration seasons, and the sunsets are some of the best you’ll see anywhere.

4. Piney Woods: Forests That Don’t Feel Like Texas

Head east and you’ll find the Piney Woods—towering forests, quiet lakes, and a vibe that feels more like the Deep South than the Wild West. Caddo Lake is a must-see, with its mysterious cypress trees and Spanish moss. Rent a canoe and explore the bayous—you might just spot an alligator (don’t worry, they’re more scared of you).

5. Palo Duro Canyon: The Grand Canyon of Texas

Second only to the real thing, Palo Duro Canyon is a stunner. Hike, bike, or even ride horseback through the colorful rock formations. The sunsets here are unreal, and if you’re into camping, there’s no better place to pitch a tent and wake up with a view.

Why Nature in Texas Is Different

Texas is huge. You can drive for ten hours and still be in Texas. That means you get a little bit of everything—deserts, forests, mountains, beaches, prairies. And because it’s so big, there’s always something new to discover, no matter how many road trips you take.

Final Thoughts

You don’t have to go far (or spend a ton of money) to have an epic outdoor adventure in Texas. Whether you’re into hiking, swimming, birding, or just chilling with a view, there’s a corner of the state with your name on it.
So next time you’re planning a weekend getaway, skip the usual and try something wild. Nature in Texas? It’s bigger and better than you think.

Exploring the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi: A Must-See for Texas Music Fans

Exploring the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi: A Must-See for Texas Music Fans

If you’re traveling through South Texas and looking for something unique to do in Corpus Christi, put the Selena Museum at the top of your list. Whether you’re a lifelong fan of the Queen of Tejano or just curious about Texas music history, this place is worth the stop.

What Is the Selena Museum?
The Selena Museum is dedicated to the life and legacy of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, one of Texas’ most beloved musical icons. Opened by her family in 1998, the museum sits next to Q-Productions (her family’s recording studio) and packs a ton of Selena memorabilia into a surprisingly personal space.

What You’ll See

  • Selena’s Outfits: The museum’s biggest draw is the collection of Selena’s stage costumes, including her famous purple jumpsuit from the Houston Astrodome concert.
  • Awards & Records: There’s a wall of gold and platinum records, plus her Grammy Award and plenty of other trophies.
  • Personal Items: You’ll find everything from Selena’s red Porsche to her favorite lipstick, handwritten notes, and even her childhood dolls.
  • Studio Tour: The museum also gives you a peek into Q-Productions, where Selena recorded some of her biggest hits. You can see the actual studio and get a sense of the creative energy that went into her music.

What to Expect

  • Hours: The museum is open Monday through Friday, 10am–4pm, and Saturdays from 10am–2pm. (Closed Sundays.)
  • Tickets: Admission is affordable—around $10for adults, $5 for kids. You can buy tickets at the door.
  • Atmosphere: This isn’t a huge, flashy museum. It’s run by Selena’s family, and you can feel the personal touch. The vibe is friendly, welcoming, and sometimes emotional—especially for fans.
  • Location: 5410 Leopard St, Corpus Christi, TX 78408. There’s plenty of parking, and it’s easy to find.

Tips for Your Visit

  • Go Early: It can get busy, especially in spring and summer. Mornings are usually quieter.
  • Photography: You can take photos (no flash), but some areas might be off-limits—just ask staff if you’re not sure.
  • Gift Shop: Don’t skip the gift shop! They’ve got exclusive Selena merch you won’t find anywhere else.

Is It Worth It?

Honestly, even if you’re not a hardcore Selena fan, the museum is a cool slice of Texas music history. It’s quick—plan for about an hour—but packed with nostalgia and heart. If you grew up on Selena’s music or just want to learn more about her impact, you’ll walk away with a new appreciation for her story.

Final Thoughts

The Selena Museum is one of those Texas stops that feels both local and legendary. It’s a simple, authentic tribute to someone who changed the music world—and it’s right here in Corpus Christi. If you’re road-tripping through South Texas, make the detour. You won’t regret it.

Salvation Through Jesus Christ: What It Really Means

Salvation Through Jesus Christ: What It Really Means

When you hear the word “salvation,” what comes to mind? For a lot of people, it’s a church word. Maybe it sounds old-fashioned, or maybe it’s something you’ve heard a hundred times but never really understood. Let’s break it down in a way that’s honest, practical, and real.

What Is Salvation?

At its core, salvation is about rescue. It’s God’s way of reaching out to us, even when we feel lost, broken, or not good enough. The Bible says that all of us have messed up—no one’s perfect (Romans 3:23). But instead of leaving us stuck, God made a way for us to be forgiven and set free. That’s where Jesus comes in.

Why Jesus?

Jesus isn’t just a good teacher or a wise man. I believe He’s the Son of God, sent to earth to show us what God’s love looks like in real life. But more than that, Jesus came to fix the gap between us and God. He did that by living a perfect life, dying on the cross for our sins, and rising again three days later.
That’s the heart of the Christian message: Jesus took the punishment we deserved so we could have a relationship with God. It’s not about being “good enough” or following a bunch of rules. It’s about trusting what Jesus did for us.

What Does Salvation Look Like?

Salvation isn’t just a ticket to heaven after you die—it’s a new life that starts right now. When you put your faith in Jesus, a few things happen:
  • Forgiveness: Your past mistakes? Wiped clean.
  • New Identity: You’re not defined by your failures. You’re loved and accepted by God.
  • Purpose: Life isn’t just about getting by. You’re invited into God’s story, with meaning and hope.
  • Peace: Even in tough times, you can have a sense of peace knowing you’re not alone.

How Do You Receive Salvation?

It’s surprisingly simple. The Bible says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
It’s not about magic words—it’s about trusting Jesus and accepting His gift. You can pray something as simple as:
“Jesus, I know I’ve messed up. I believe You died for me and rose again. I want to follow You. Please forgive me and give me a new start.”
That’s it. No hoops to jump through. Just honest faith.

What’s Next?

If you’ve made that decision or you’re thinking about it, you’re not alone. Find a community of people who can encourage you—maybe a local church, a group of friends, or even online. Read the Bible, ask questions, and keep seeking. God’s not afraid of your doubts or your past. He’s all about second chances.

Final Thought:
Salvation through Jesus Christ isn’t about religion, rules, or being perfect. It’s about a relationship with a God who loves you more than you can imagine. If you’re searching for hope, forgiveness, or a fresh start, Jesus offers all that—and more.

Sony ZV-E1 Review: Is This the Ultimate Travel Vlogging Camera?

Sony ZV-E1 Review: Is This the Ultimate Travel Vlogging Camera?

If you’re like me and spend your weekends crisscrossing Texas, you know how important it is to have a camera that can keep up. After years of filming with my iPhone and the Canon G7X, I finally got my hands on the Sony ZV-E1. Here’s my honest, no-nonsense review after putting it through its paces on the road.

First Impressions

The Sony ZV-E1 is marketed as a “vlogging camera,” but don’t let the label fool you—this thing packs serious power in a compact body. It’s lighter than you’d expect for a camera with a full-frame sensor, which is great when you’re hauling your gear across museums, parks, and roadside attractions, but it gets heavy after hours of holding it.
What I liked right out of the box:
  • Lightweight and portable – easy to toss in a backpack.
  • Flip-out screen – makes self-filming a breeze, especially if you’re a solo creator.
  • Simple controls – you don’t need to be a camera nerd to get started.

Video Quality

Let’s talk about what really matters: video quality. The ZV-E1 delivers crisp, vibrant footage even in tricky lighting—think dimly lit hotel lobbies or overcast afternoons at a Texas zoo. The full-frame sensor captures more detail and depth than my old cameras, and the colors look natural, not oversaturated.
Low-light performance: This is where the ZV-E1 shines. I shoot a lot indoors or during cloudy days, and this camera just handles it. No grainy mess, just clear, usable footage.

Audio Performance

I paired the ZV-E1 with a Sony external mic, and the audio is a big step up from what I got out of my phone. Voice clarity is solid, and background noise is manageable, though wind can still be a pain (I haven’t tested wind reduction gear yet, but it’s on my list). If you’re filming outdoors, you’ll want to invest in a windscreen.

Ease of Use

If you’re not a camera pro, don’t stress. The ZV-E1 has a bunch of auto modes that make it easy to just point and shoot. The touch screen menu is straightforward, and switching between video and photo is quick. I’m still learning the advanced settings, but you can get great results even as a beginner.

Battery Life & Storage

Honestly, battery life is decent but not amazing. I always carry an extra battery, especially if I’m filming multiple locations in one day. Storage is easy—just pop the SD card into your computer.

Downsides

No camera is perfect. Here’s what I didn’t love:
  • Price: It’s a step up from entry-level cameras, so it’s an investment. About $3500.00
  • Wind noise: Still an issue if you’re outdoors and don’t have the right mic setup.
  • No built-in ND filter: Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting if you shoot in bright sun.

Final Verdict

If you’re serious about upping your video game and want something that’s lightweight, powerful, and beginner-friendly, the Sony ZV-E1 is a solid choice. It’s made my travel videos look sharper and more professional, and it’s easy enough to use on the go. Just budget for a good mic and maybe a windscreen, and you’ll be set.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely—especially if you want to create high-quality travel content without lugging around a ton of gear.

Have questions about the ZV-E1 or want to see how it performs on the road? Drop a comment below or check out my latest Texas travel videos on YouTube coming later this year!
